TIF Support Proposed for Albany Park Arts Center

A multi-purpose arts hub would be created in Albany Park through $1.6 million in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) support under a proposal introduced to City Council today by Mayor Brandon Johnson.

The $3 million project at 3741 W. Lawrence Ave. would redevelop a one-story, 6,500-square-foot building as The Workshop Arts Collaborative, a space for musicians, community arts organizations, emerging young artists and other creatively inclined neighborhood residents.

The proposed project is led by James Yelen, a Chicago-based community development professional and artist who operates The Workshop Arts Collaborative LLC.
