Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 16-year-old who has been implicated in the murder of a fellow teen is now facing new gun charges for a separate incident.
The teen, who will not be named due to his age, was arraigned Monday in front of the Honorable William Little on a sealed, grand jury indictment that charges him with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree.
On Sept. 16 at around 5:12 p.m. Albany Police responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Thornton Street and Beverly Avenue. One bullet struck a window of a residence nearby and dropped on the living room floor of a man who was sitting close by.
Albany Police later obtained Ring camera footage that allegedly showed the teen firing off multiple shots toward the north. Eight shell casings were found nearby.
This is the same teen who was arraigned on Oct. 23 in connection with the murder of Satour Burns, 15, who was shot and killed on June 23 on Clinton Avenue.
The 16-year-old pleaded not guilty Monday and was remanded to the custody of the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility. The Albany County District Attorney's Office will be proactively working to keep the case in Youth Part and prosecute the individual as an adult.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Stephen Lydon of the Major Crimes Unit.
