Puget Sound Energy has requested a planned electrical shutdown for the entire Bellingham campus Friday, December 19, to perform work on the lines feeding the electrical substation. The shutdown is expected to last approximately 30 minutes, with work scheduled to be completed before 7:30 am. The planned outage will affect all campus systems that run on electricity, including most elevators, workstations, telecommunications, lighting, heat, and network connectivity, among others. Emergency lighting and life safety systems like fire alarms will continue to function on backup power.
Please shut down your workstations before leaving work on Thursday and expect power interruptions if you are on campus early Friday morning. Lights and workstations should function normally once power is restored, and network connectivity should come back within about five minutes. Elevators and building ventilation may take longer to restore due to safety protocols. We expect most systems to be functioning by about 10 am. To report continuing problems, please place a Ready request or contact the FDO Customer Service Center at [email protected].
Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
