Case Closed: Peace and Quiet Restored! A Code Enforcement Win for Our Community

We love sharing stories like this one. A resident came to us when construction noise was waking them and their neighbors early in the morning and running late into the evening. Here's how our Code Enforcement team helped restore quality of life for the community.

The complaint came in early May, and our team got to work quickly. Code Enforcement inspectors conducted both a late-night and a daytime inspection to confirm the activity firsthand.

We also looped in our Planning Division and colleagues from the Department of Public Works to find out whether the lot had any permits tied to it. It turned out the property was being used as a staging and storage area for a nearby project, which requires a Site Adjustment Permit under the zoning code. No such permit had been obtained, putting the property in violation.

Once the violation was confirmed, an inspection notice was issued. The responsible party, who was cooperative throughout the process, chose to cease the activity rather than pursue permitting. Case closed!

This is a great example of what our Code Enforcement team does every day: listening to both residents and property owners, doing the investigative legwork, and working collaboratively across departments and all parties to find real solutions.
