MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg and the United Way of the Capital Region are teaming up to offer a 1-mile walk and family fun fest on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the college campus.
"United We Walk: Families Helping Families" includes a walk around campus, which will benefit the United Way's Ready for School, Ready to Succeed initiative. The initiative is a community-driven effort aimed at preparing children ages 3-5 for kindergarten, both academically and socially, by offering free virtual and in-person workshops for families. Currently, the initiative collaborates with 12 school districts and 20 elementary schools across the region.
The event also includes a family fun fest, where community agencies and organizations, businesses, and student clubs will provide information and resources as well to families, particularly those with younger children. South Central PA Highway Safety, Catherine Hershey Schools, The Foundation for Enhancing Communities and others will be present and offer engaging activities for children.
Registration for the walk is $10 per person. Those interested should register online. For more information, contact Hannah Mudrick at [email protected].
