Supporting the People of Myanmar.

The World Bank is providing direct support to the poor and vulnerable population through the Myanmar Community Support Project (MCSP) with financing from the from the Myanmar Partnership Multi-Donor Trust Fund ($22.5 million). It was implemented from January 2023 to September 2024 by two international partners: International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and World Food Programme (WFP) to channel resources directly to communities. . The project focuses on enhancing food security and livelihoods for vulnerable populations impacted by crises in select areas of Myanmar. The four project components are: emergency food assistance, nutritional support, livelihoods assistance, and access to basic services.

Key results:

  • More than 535,000 beneficiaries were reached (exceeding original targets), as of June 30, 2024.
  • Enhancedfood security for 45,200 conflict-affected households and providing nutrition support to over 17,000 women, girls and children.
  • Livelihoodassistance (agriculture production & cash transfers) to 203,400 beneficiaries and improved basic services (water, sanitation, shelter) for 270,000 more.
