Village of Williston Park - PFAS Treatment at Wells 1A and 2

Negative Declaration

Nassau County - The Village of Williston Park, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed PFAS Treatment at Wells 1A and 2 will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves proposing improvements to the Wells 1A and 2 Facility in order to upgrade critical utility and equipment infrastructure at the end of their useful lives and address the issues posed by emerging contaminants in its drinking water. Currently, there is no treatment at the Wells 1A and 2 Facility for the two recent emerging contaminants, perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). To accommodate for the installation of treatment for these compounds, major electrical, fuel system, and site improvements are planned at the Wells 1A and 2 Facility, including controls, equipment, pump motors, miscellaneous building improvements, a new GAC treatment facility (approximately 3,500 square feet) and a garage (approximately 4,000 square feet). The project is located at 115 Syracuse Street in the Village of Williston Park, New York.
