New Zealand's updated position statement on The Application of International Law to State Activity in Cyberspace

On Tuesday 17 June 2025, New Zealand issued an update to its position statement on The Application of International Law to State Activity in Cyberspace. New Zealand's original position was issued in 2020.

The application of international law to state activity online is a critical component of the framework of responsible state behaviour online.

The updates to the statement focus on three key areas: collective countermeasures; due diligence; and international humanitarian law.
