Messmer Celebrates Passage of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2025 in the House of Representatives

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Rep. Mark Messmer (R-IN) celebrated the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2026, the legislation responsible for funding the Department of War.

"The FY2026 National Defense Authorization Act codifies the key policy priorities our Republican majority in the House of Representatives has been fighting for, and with Crane Naval Surface Warfare Base in Indiana's 8th District, I am proud to represent a community that strongly supports the President's 'Peace Through Strength' agenda," said Rep. Messmer. "Thanks to President Trump's leadership, long gone are the days of the Biden-Harris Administration's appeasement that have emboldened our enemies and weakened our nation's standing in the world."

The FY2026 National Defense Authorization Act:

  • Codifies President Trump's efforts to end left-wing ideology, wokeism, and DEI in the military, and restores focus on lethality, meritocracy, and accountability.
  • Fully funds and provides additional authorities to the Department of War to support Department of Homeland Security (DHS) border security efforts.
  • Fundamentally reforms the Department of War acquisition process, codifying President Trump's Executive Order and speeding the delivery of innovative new technologies to the warfighter.
  • Carries out President Trump's efforts to improve the quality of life for our servicemembers with a 3.8% pay raise and improved benefits for military families.
  • Authorizes full funding for President Trump's top priorities, including the Golden Dome, F-47 fighter aircraft, submarines, warships, and autonomous systems.
  • Authorizes funds and creates new authorities to meet President Trump's goal of revitalizing the defense industrial base, growing defense manufacturing jobs in America, and onshoring our defense supply chains.
  • Includes new authorities to support President Trump's effort to require our allies to pay more for their own defense.
  • Provides over $20 billion in savings, including $15 billion from Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)-initiated reforms assumed in President Trump's budget request.
  • Extends authorities President Trump uses to eliminate terrorists that threaten Americans.
  • Codifies President Trump's Executive Order to promote energy independence and develop advanced nuclear power technologies
  • Secures vital funding for hypersonic missile, aircraft, and interceptor technologies that will keep Americans safe.
  • Establishes programs to support members of the National Guard during their service.
  • Strengthens the Department of War's ability to swiftly expand its supply chains and address critical national security shortfalls in the Defense Industrial Base.

The NDAA legislation is critical to the defense industry in IN-08 and across the United States.
