Lane closures scheduled on US-50 at MO-291 for traffic shift, Sept. 18-19

JACKSON COUNTY - Crews will conduct various lane closures on U.S. Route 50 near the Missouri Route 291 north interchange on Friday, Sept. 18 and Saturday, Sept. 19, in order to shift traffic following the demolition of the Route 291 bridge over 50 Hwy. Below are the scheduled traffic modifications.

Friday, Sept. 18 at approximately 7 p.m. until Saturday, Sept. 19 at approximately 6 a.m.: intermittent lane closures on 50 Hwy eastbound and westbound between Todd George Pkwy and Route 291 South

Beginning Saturday, Sept. 19 at approximately 6 a.m.:

• Two lanes will be open on US-50 eastbound and westbound at Route 291.
• 50 Hwy eastbound off-ramp will be open with access to Hamblen Rd.
• 50 Hwy westbound off-ramp will open with access to Route 291 north

All work is weather permitting.

This is part of a larger project at MO 291N and U.S. 50, which includes bridge replacement, road realignment, and ADA improvements from SE 7th Terrace to SE Oldham Parkway in Lee's Summit with a completion date of January 2027. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can also be short-term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris form the roadway.
