Yesterday, Senate Republicans voted to make health care even more expensive for more than 20 million Americans by letting enhanced ACA premium tax credits expire. Before the vote, the DNC launched a new ad campaign targeting vulnerable Senate Republicans in Ohio, Alaska, Texas, and Maine. The digital ads and hometown newspaper takeovers call out the Republican Senators for repeatedly voting against extending enhanced ACA premium tax credits and causing health care premiums to skyrocket for millions of Americans.
Bottom line: Republicans chose billionaires over working families yet again. It was clear Republicans didn't have a plan to lower costs, but when Democrats put forward a common-sense, clean extension of the ACA tax credits - which nearly 75% of Americans support - Republicans rejected it to protect their billionaire tax cuts.
Take a look at some of the coverage below:
Fox News: Democrats target 'vulnerable' Republican senators ahead of high-stakes healthcare showdown
[Paul Steinhauser and Alex Miller, 12/11/25]
"Hours before the Senate holds high-stakes votes on dueling Democratic and Republican healthcare tax credit measures, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) is launching a new ad campaign targeting four Republican senators it considers vulnerable as they seek re-election next year.
"The campaign, shared first with Fox News Digital on Thursday, takes aim at Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, John Cornyn of Texas, Jon Husted of Ohio and Dan Sullivan of Alaska for what the DNC charges are their repeated votes against extending enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits, which could cause healthcare premiums to skyrocket for millions of Americans.
"The DNC is targeting the senators through digital takeovers of hometown newspapers in the four senators' states, as well as through additional digital ads. The spots also call out GOP Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Bernie Moreno of Ohio. …
"'Today's Senate vote to extend the ACA tax credits could be the difference between life and death for many Americans. Over 20 million Americans will see their health care premiums skyrocket next year if Susan Collins, John Cornyn, Jon Husted, and Dan Sullivan do not stand with working families and vote to extend these lifesaving credits,' DNC Chair Ken Martin charged in a statement."

"To pressure Maine senator Susan Collins, Ohio senators Jon Husted and Bernie Moreno, Texas senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn and Alaska senators Dan Sullivan and Lisa Murkowski, the DNC has taken out ads in their local newspapers reading: 'Republicans are doubling healthcare costs', and encouraging readers to call their offices.
"DNC chair Ken Martin called the Senate vote, 'the difference between life and death for many Americans.'
"'Working families are already struggling to afford the basics, and if they have to shell out hundreds of dollars more for their health care every month, they could be forced to choose between putting food on the table, paying their rent, or going uninsured,' he said."

"'Today's Senate vote to extend the ACA tax credits could be the difference between life and death for many Americans,' DNC Chair Ken Martin said in a press release. 'Over 20 million Americans will see their health care premiums skyrocket next year if Susan Collins, John Cornyn, Jon Husted, and Dan Sullivan do not stand with working families and vote to extend these lifesaving credits.'"
Maine Monitor: DNC Targets Susan Collins With New ACA Ads
[Torrie Herrington, 12/11/25]
"The Democratic National Committee released ads Thursday morning targeting Sen. Susan Collins over health care, its first round of Senate campaign ads this cycle.
"The four-figure ad buy, first reported by NOTUS, urges her to vote to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies, saying she could cause health care premiums to skyrocket for thousands of Mainers. They come ahead of votes planned for Thursday on health care, including a Democratic-led proposal expected to extend the subsidies for three years.
"'Today's Senate vote to extend the ACA tax credits could be the difference between life and death for many Mainers,' DNC Chair Ken Martin said in a statement about the new ads. 'Over 50,000 Mainers will see their health care premiums skyrocket next year if Susan Collins does not stand with working families and vote to extend these lifesaving credits.'
"Martin said Collins - who is facing Democratic challenges from Gov. Janet Mills and oyster farmer Graham Platner, both of whom support extending the subsidies - and other Republicans should vote with Democrats to 'stop these price hikes.'"

"The digital ads, which are running on the Express-News' and Current's sites, accuse the four-term incumbent and fellow Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of voting to send health care costs skyrocketing for more than 3 million Texans. …
"'Today's Senate vote to extend the ACA tax credits could be the difference between life and death for thousands of Texans,' DNC Chair Ken Martin said in an emailed statement. 'Over 3 million Texans will see their health care premiums skyrocket next year if John Cornyn does not stand with working families and vote to extend these lifesaving credits.'"

"But the focus is on Husted, who will be on the ballot against former U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown next November.
"'As many as half a million Ohioans who rely on these credits to be able to afford their insurance will lose access or will have to start making choices between putting food on the table or having health care,' said DNC National Policy Director Shelby Wiltz in an interview. 'Nobody should have to make those choices.'"
