TRAFFIC ALERT - Sussex County - Closure of Gravel Hill Road/ SR 30 between Lewes Georgetown Hwy/ SR 9 and Bennum Switch Rd
Road Closure: Gravel Hill Road/ SR 30 at the Railroad Crossing between Lewes Georgetown Highway/ SR 9 and Bennum Switch Road
Georgetown - Delmarva Central Railroad forces will be resurfacing and performing general maintenance of their crossing of Gravel Hill Road, Georgetown, Sussex County, beginning at 7:00 am on Friday, July 17, 2026. The work will require the full closure of Gravel Hill Road. Message signs will be posted in advance, advising motorists of the closure.
A detour will be posted as follows:
Northbound: Gravel Hill Road to Zoar Road to Hollyville Road to Harbeson Road to Lewes Georgetown Highway/ SR 9 back to Gravel Hill Road.
Southbound: Gravel Hill Road to Lewes Georgetown Highway/ SR 9 to Harbeson Road to Hollyville Road to Zoar Road back to Gravel Hill Road.
The closure will be in place 24 hours per day. The work is expected to be completed, and the detour lifted no later than 10:00 pm on Friday, July 24, 2026.
