The New York Times Reaches Three Million International Subscribers

The Times marks this milestone as it celebrates its 175th anniversary with 13.1 million total subscribers, more than 150 million registered users, and between 50 and 100 million weekly visitors.

Chief growth and customer officer Hannah Yang attributed the strong growth trajectory to the Company's ongoing investment in original reporting and a strategic commitment to create a daily habit among readers who turn to The Times for news, games, recipes, shopping and sports.

"The New York Times is one of the few organizations with the commitment and resources to be out in the field, covering the world in all its complexity. With more than 270 journalists based outside the U.S. and the support of more than three million international subscribers, we believe this investment and innovation is set to continue."

The Times aims to be the essential subscription for curious people around the world and has seen continued international growth in recent years as readers seek to understand U.S. politics, an increasingly divided world grappling with war, migration, climate change and new technologies.

Alongside coverage of major global storylines, readers outside the United States are drawn to our leading international reporting that is steeped in local expertise and driven by a global newsroom of 2,300 journalists who reported on the ground from 150 countries last year.

In recent years, The Times has opened bureaus in Madrid, Vietnam, Berlin and Kyiv, and expanded 24/7 newsroom operations in London, Seoul and New York City. Other investments include a greater focus on new reporting formats, including visual analysis, reporter video and audio. From taking readers on a two-month expedition to study Antarctica's fastest-thinning glaciers to launching The World , a flagship newsletter for international Times journalism, The Times delivers immersive global storytelling and trusted daily analysis to an international audience.

The Times's product ecosystem continues to resonate with audiences globally, with Games, Cooking and The Athletic seeing growing engagement among readers and subscribers internationally.

Background on subscriber data: International subscribers represent approximately 26% of digital-only subscribers as of Q 1 2026.
