Gov. Braun Highlights Investments to Make Child Care More Affordable During Growing Kids Learning Center Visit in Porter County

CHESTERTON, IN - Governor Mike Braun today toured Growing Kids Learning Center in Chesterton and highlighted his administration's work to expand access to affordable, reliable child care for Hoosier families.

"Working parents need dependable child care that fits within the family budget. We are investing $200 million to help more families receive child care vouchers, while giving Indiana employers new incentives to help their employees find quality child care close to home or work. Affordability is our top priority, and child care is an important part of that mission." - Governor Mike Braun

During the visit, Governor Braun met with the staff and teachers of Growing Kids, toured the Chesterton facility and discussed the importance of making quality child care more accessible for families and employers.

Governor Braun recently announced a $200 million investment to expand affordable child care in Indiana and reopen enrollment for Child Care and Development Fund vouchers through the Financial Responsibility and Opportunity Growth Fund.

Governor Braun also signed House Enrolled Act 1177, a law expanding Indiana's employer child care tax credit. The law gives more employers the opportunity to support their workers through on-site child care, partnerships with local providers and other solutions that meet the needs of working families.

The law also allows redevelopment commissions to use local economic development tools to help construct or expand child care facilities, increasing capacity in communities across Indiana.
