Washington, D.C. - This evening, Congressman Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), representing the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos, voted for an extension of Enhanced Premium Tax Credits, which help bring down the cost of healthcare for millions of Americans.
"Since joining Congress last year, I have prioritized improving affordability for the people of the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos," said Congressman Mackenzie. "As our communities work to recover from the inflation experienced under the Biden Administration, I am working in a bipartisan way to avoid a sharp increase in health insurance costs. It's now time for members of the Senate - on both sides - to come together and support a bipartisan health care plan that delivers the relief and reform that the American people deserve."
Congressman Mackenzie has made clear for monthsthat he supports an extension in order to prevent sharp price increases for some Americans. Prior to this vote, he workedwith members on both sides of the aisle to craft bipartisan legislation that would achieve a short-term extension and longer-term reforms. Congressman Mackenzie continues to viewthis as the best and most realistic path forward.
"The American people understand that our health care system is broken and that the Affordable Care Act has actually made healthcare too expensive for many Americans," said Congressman Mackenzie. "That's why I have spent the last several months working alongside colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass commonsense, bipartisan healthcare legislation that pairs immediate relief with long-term reform. Moving ahead, I will continue to work alongside members of the House and Senate to achieve a bipartisan outcome on this issue."
