Public feedback sought on preferred preliminary design for SH-55 in McCall

VALLEY COUNTY - The Idaho Transportation Department and the City of McCall invite the public to review and provide feedback on the preferred preliminary design for improvements to State Highway 55 and Deinhard Lane to Boydstun Street.

The project team refined the design using community feedback gathered during the first round of public engagement in late summer 2025 and technical analysis. During the August 2025 public meeting, ITD and the City of McCall received 111 comments which the team used to refine the design, including adding an additional walking path among other changes.

As drafted, the design would improve safety and mobility, upgrade both corridors to current design standards and support a potential exchange of roadway ownership that would move SH-55 from downtown McCall to Deinhard Lane and Boydstun Street.

The public meeting will be available in person and online:

In person:Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the McCall Public Library Community Hall, 218 Park St. This is a drop-in meeting with no formal presentation.

Online: Oct. 20-Nov. 3 at www.sh55deinhard-boydstun.com.

While comments are always welcome, feedback received by Tuesday, Nov. 3, will be used to inform the next phase of project development.

ITD and the City of McCall were awarded a Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity grant to fund this preliminary design project. By spring 2027, the project team will identify the costs and specific design elements needed to bring both roadways up to highway and city standards for a potential corridor exchange. These proposed changes are not funded for construction.
