Addis Secures $1.34 Million for San Luis Obispo Storm Mitigation Upgrades

SAN LUIS OBISPO - Assemblymember Dawn Addis (D-Morro Bay), Chair of the Assembly Budget Sub 1 Committee on Health, announced $1.34 million in state funding for storm mitigation for the City of San Luis Obispo through California's budget deal for the 2025-2026 legislative session.

"I'm proud to secure over $1.34 million for the City of San Luis Obispo to address critical storm readiness needs," said Addis. "As extreme weather is expected to continue impacting our communities, it is vital that we work to prevent as much damage as possible and this funding will ensure needed resources are available."

The secured $1.34 million in state funding will go towards the following infrastructure upgrades and repairs:

  1. Storm drain replacement at Skyline Drive:
  2. Storm drain replacement and ADA-complaint curb improvements at Rafael Luneta intersection;
  3. Olive Street storm drain replacement; and
  4. Silt removal across the City's storm drainage system ahead of winter flooding.

"We're grateful to Assemblymember Dawn Addis and her office for recognizing San Luis Obispo's needs and helping bring these important funding resources to our community," said Eric Stewart, Mayor of the City of San Luis Obispo. "These funds will help us repair critical drainage infrastructure, install ADA curb ramps, remove silt, and improve storm resiliency at for locations throughout the city. By acting now, we can maximize local and state resources and protect our community by getting ahead of the incoming storm season."

Dawn Addis was elected to the California State Assembly in 2022 to represent the coastal 30th Assembly District, which includes San Luis Obispo, Monterey, and Santa Cruz Counties. She is the Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee 1 on Health.
