Northbound I-75 (Gratiot Connector) ramp to M-3 closed in Detroit this weekend for resurfacing

• To safely repair the northbound I-75 Exit 51B ramp to M-3 (Gratiot Avenue), crews will close the connector ramp.

• This resurfacing is part of the ongoing utility relocation project needed prior to replacing the M-3 bridge over the Dequindre Cut.

DETROIT, Mich. - Weather permitting, crews will close northbound I-75 Exit 51B to M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) in Detroit this weekend to safely expedite pavement repair work. The closure begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2 and opens by 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5.

During the closure, northbound and southbound I-75 traffic heading for eastbound M-3 will be detoured via southbound I-375, eastbound Jefferson Avenue and northbound St. Aubin Street to eastbound M-3.

Downtown traffic on northbound I-375 looking to access eastbound M-3 will follow the same detour.

Ongoing utility replacement work requires a continuous lane closure on southbound M-3 from St. Aubin to Russell streets and on northbound M-3 from Russell Street to East Vernor Highway.

This utility relocation is in preparation of planned work to replace the M-3 bridge over the Dequindre Cut that is currently being designed. During this initial stage of utility relocation, the Dequindre Cut will remain open and access to Eastern Market will be maintained. Overall relocation work is expected to be completed in December.
