U.S. EPA Seeks Community Input on Omni Polymers Site Cleanup

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is developing an updated Community Involvement Plan (CIP) for the Omni Polymers Site at 1925 Nebraska Ave. in Toledo and is inviting local residents to share their perspectives.

The building was barred from operating in May 2024 after an inspection by the Toledo Fire Prevention Bureau and Environmental Services revealed improper chemical storage, a non-operational fire suppression system, and evidence of ground-up plastics washing into Swan Creek. The U.S. EPA formally began Superfund cleanup operations in September 2025.

As cleanup efforts continue, the EPA recognizes that community demographics, interests, and needs evolve over time. The updated Community Involvement Plan will help ensure the agency's outreach remains responsive to those most affected by the site.

Residents are encouraged to participate in confidential interviews lasting approximately 30 minutes to one hour. These conversations offer community members a direct opportunity to share their lived experience with EPA representatives and ask questions about the cleanup process.
