PRESS RELEASE BY THE OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER Maltese Parliamentary Delegation led by Speaker Anġlu Farrugia pays an official visit to France

The Maltese parliamentary delegation led by the Speaker of the House of Representatives Anġlu Farrugia has concluded a three-day official visit to France.

Throughout the visit, the delegation held constructive and cordial meetings with the President of the National Assembly of France, Yael Braun Pivet, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Home Affairs, Marie-Pierre Vedrenne, the Minister Delegate to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, responsible for Francophonie, International Partnerships and French Abroad, Eleonore Cariot and the French Members of Parliament and the Senate sitting on the Malta/France Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Malta and France, enhancing parliamentary cooperation, and exchanging views on key issues of shared interest, including health, migrations, human trafficking and broader European and Mediterranean affairs. The delegation also attended a reception/concert organised by the Embassy of Malta to France.

Speaker Farrugia expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the visit, noting that the meetings reaffirmed the strong ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and their respective parliaments.

The delegation included the Minister for Health and Active Ageing, the Hon. Dr Jo Etienne Abela, Members of Parliament Carmelo Abela, Dr Rebekah Borg, and Ambassador Joseph Cole.

The visit is expected to contribute positively to the continued development of relations between Malta and France at parliamentary and governmental levels.

During the visit, the delegation was assisted and accompanied by Malta's Ambassador to France H.E. Clive Agius and diplomatic staff from the Embassy of Malta in France.
