Appeal for information after man found with serious head injuries - Waratah

Newcastle Police are appealing for public assistance as an investigation continues into an incident where a man was found with serious head injuries earlier this week.

About 7.00pm on Wednesday (15 January 2025), an off-duty paramedic found a 28-year-old man with serious head injuries at the intersection of Edith Street and Platt Street, Waratah.

The paramedic took the man to the emergency department at the nearby Mater Hospital, before he was transferred to John Hunter hospital for further treatment.

Officers from Newcastle City Police District have commenced an investigation, as the man's injuries are unexplained at this time, and police have been unable to speak to the man due to his medical condition.

As inquiries continue, anyone who might have been in the Waratah area at the time and may have information, CCTV and or dashcam vision in relation to the incident is urged to contact Newcastle Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
