UA Begins Search for Vice President for Community Impact

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama has started its search for a vice president for community impact.

The vice president for community impact serves as the University's executive leader responsible for leading strategy for forging meaningful partnerships with local communities, statewide leaders and national organizations. Working side-by-side with academic and administrative leadership, the vice president will align the University's strengths with real-world needs, ensuring its work makes a measurable difference across Alabama and beyond.

The leadership position will report to Chad Tindol, senior vice president for partnerships and strategy, and chair of the search committee. Tindol is joined by committee members including:

  • Stan Acker, assistant vice chancellor for finance and administration with the UA System and Tuscaloosa County commissioner
  • Judge Samarria Dunson, Montgomery County District Court and president of the UA Community Affairs Board of Advisors
  • Judge John England, trustee emeritus and community member
  • Dr. John Giggie, professor and director of the Summersell Center for the Study of the South
  • Dr. Rosalind Moore-Miller, assistant vice president for student engagement
  • Charlie Beth Pruett, UA student and Student Government Association chief of staff
  • Justice Smyth, executive director of the Tuscaloosa County Economic Development Authority and UA Community Affairs Board of Advisors board member

Position duties include leading and contributing to efforts that grow philanthropic, local, state and federal support for UA and UA System initiatives, while working closely with the President's Office and UA System Government Relations Office to advance priorities at both the state and federal levels. The vice president for community impact partners with the chief financial officer and human resources leadership to ensure future resources and talent are aligned with the University's long-term enterprise strategy.

The deadline for best consideration for the position is March 14. The vice president for community impact is expected to be announced later this spring.
