Clarification about independent event

Goldsmiths, University of London has been contacted by members of the public about an independent event being hosted by Goldsmiths for Palestine and the Feminist Library on 7 October, 2025.

We would like to make clear that these groups are not formally affiliated with the University and that the event is not taking place on our premises. For clarity, this is an independent event being held away from our campus by two organisations which have no formal connection to the University.

Goldsmiths is clear in its commitment to meeting our duties to upholding the right to freedom of speech. There are a range of policies and processes in place to ensure that these duties are met for any events for which the university or formally affiliated groups are responsible. This includes our Code of Practice on Freedom of Speech and Academic Freedom and Guidance on conduct of protests and demonstrations.

Goldsmiths is delivering an Antisemitism Action Plan which includes putting in place a university framework for positive activism and engagement. More broadly across society, we strongly encourage all groups and viewpoints to be sensitive to others' views while exercising legal free speech.
