Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (I-580) Lane closures

Contra Costa County & Marin County - Caltrans will conduct lane closures on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (I-580) for scheduled maintenance activities. These closures will affect both westbound and eastbound lanes during daytime and overnight hours, continuing Tuesday, March 3, 2026, through Friday, March 27, 2026. Lane closures will occur from the Toll Plaza to the west end of the bridge in Marin County and in the opposite direction. At least one lane will remain open at all times to ensure traffic flow.

Closure Details:

  • Westbound I-580: Lane #2 will be closed overnight on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, and Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
  • Eastbound I-580: Right shoulder will be closed during daytime hours from Wednesday, March 4, 2026, through Friday, March 6, 2026, from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
  • Eastbound I-580: The right shoulder and lane #2 will also be closed overnight from Wednesday, March 3, 2026, through Friday, March 27, 2026, from 9:00 PM to5:00 AM.

Traffic Control Measures:
Changeable Message Signs (CMS) will alert drivers of closure. Motorists should expect minor delays, reduce speed, and plan extra travel time.
