Deluzio Statement on U.S. Steel News

CARNEGIE, PA -- Today, Congressman Deluzio released the following statement.

"For the last year and a half, my goal has not changed: strengthen American steelmaking and protect union Steelworkers and Pittsburgh U.S. Steel headquarters jobs.

"The devil will be in the details about President Trump's announcement for the future of U.S. Steel. But I do know one thing: thank goodness guys like me didn't fold and weakly say yes to Nippon's initial offer. Because we didn't blink, the reported $14+ billion offer on the table is 10 times better.

"I will keep holding Nippon and U.S. Steel's feet to the fire: we need ironclad guarantees about the Steelworkers' jobs and contractual rights, the Pittsburgh headquarters, and investment into Western PA.

"Alongside labor and industry, I will keep working with the White House, Governor Shapiro, and federal and local leaders to make sure our region emerges stronger than ever."
