‘Tall Tales’ and ‘Medieval Madness’ will highlight 2025 NSU art camps

NATCHITOCHES - Registration is open for summer art camps at Northwestern State University.

Sessions 1 and 2 are geared to students ages 5-11 with 45 spots available for each session.

Session 1, "Tall Tales," will be June 2-6. Artists will investigate American Folklore greats like Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue ox, Pecos Bill, Johnny Appleseed and many other theme, including art reproduction in Minecraft or Lego styles.

Session 2, "Medieval Madness" will be June 9-13. This session will feature knights, princesses and dragons with projects like making cardboard armor, magic wands and fancy crowns.

Session 3, "Advanced Projects for Teens," will be for students ages 12-18 looking to learn advanced art skills. Participants will complete larger projects and choose activities from Laser engraver/cutter, 3D printing, painting, carving, printmaking and more. These weeklong projects will be taught by two NSU art professors, similar to the projects taught in classes at NSU.

Sessions are 1-5 p.m. Monday-Friday in the Department of Fine and Graphic Art, starting in Room 205 of New Fine Arts wing, 140 Central Ave. Drop-off is from 12:30-1 p.m. Pick-up is from 5-5:30 p.m.

Tuition is $185 for each weeklong session, which includes a snack and all art materials. A sibling discount of $10 per sibling is available. A $10 discount is available for attending two or more sessions and a $10 discount is available for the children or grandchildren of NSU employees with a faculty ID. Only one discount per child. Registration will remain open as long as spots are available.
