JEFFERSON COUNTY- Crews will close all lanes of northbound Interstate 55 from US 67 to McNutt Street on Friday, September 26 from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27.
One lane of northbound I-55 will reopen at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday. Northbound I-55 traffic will be fully shifted onto the median pavement with two lanes open by 7:00 a.m. Sunday, September 28.
Entrance ramps to northbound I-55 from the Route A and US 61/67 interchanges and the exit ramp from northbound I-55 to Route A will be closed beginning Friday, September 26 at 9:00 p.m. and remain closed until 7:00 a.m. Sunday, September 28. All work is weather permitting.
A signed detour will direct drivers on northbound Interstate 55 to exit at the I-55/US 67 interchange and use Route 61/67 to bypass the closed section of Interstate 55 and re-enter northbound I-55 at the I-55/McNutt St. interchange. Drivers on Route A and US 67 will be detoured to US 61/67 to access the I-55/McNutt St. interchange.
Moving northbound I-55 traffic onto the median pavement allows for demolition of the existing northbound I-55 pavement and I-55 bridges over US 67, 3rd Street, and Central Avenue in October.
