Gov. Braun Celebrates Eli Lilly and Company's 150th Anniversary

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Indiana Governor Mike Braun today celebrated Eli Lilly and Company's 150th anniversary and its continued commitment and investment in Indiana.

Founded in Indianapolis on May 10, 1876, Lilly has remained headquartered in Indiana for 150 years while growing into one of the world's leading medicine companies.

"Lilly is one of the great Indiana success stories. For 150 years, Lilly has shown what can happen when Hoosier hard work and innovation are dedicated to solving some of the world's most serious health challenges. Lilly's continued investment in Indiana means more high-wage jobs and great opportunities for Hoosiers in the life sciences industry." - Governor Mike Braun

Last week, Governor Braun joined Lilly to cut the ribbon on the company's new Lebanon Advanced Therapies site, a purpose-built genetic medicine manufacturing facility. At the event, Lilly announced an additional $4.5 billion investment across two of their three Lebanon, Indiana, sites, bringing Lilly's total capital expansion commitments in the state since 2020 to $21 billion and further solidifying Indiana's position as America's life sciences epicenter.

"This recognition from our home state means a great deal to everyone at Lilly," said Lilly Chair and CEO, Dave Ricks. "Indiana has been our home for 150 years - not by default, but by choice. The talent, character, and commitment of Hoosiers are what makes this state the right place to discover and deliver medicines that change the world. We're proud of what we've built here together, and we're just getting started."

Governor Braun delivered remarks celebrating Lilly's success in Indiana over the past 150 years and honored the Lilly team with a state proclamation recognizing their milestone.
