Friday Night Lane and Ramp Closures on I-75/I-85 Downtown Connector, Freedom Pkwy for Resurfacing
Expect Traffic Delays in Midtown, Plan Alternate Routes
ATLANTA, GA - The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors install lane closures on Interstate 75/Interstate 85 (I-75/I-85) "The Downtown Connector" in Fulton County for a resurfacing project on the Interstate between the CSX Railroad crossing in South Atlanta and the I-75/I-85 Brookwood Interchange in midtown Atlanta. These activities help repair and extend the life of the roadway materials and provide a smoother ride for drivers.

Weather and on-site conditions permitting, here are the scheduled lane and ramp closures:

9 p.m. on Friday, May 1 until 6 a.m. on Saturday
  • Two left lanes will be closed on I-75/I-85 southbound from Courtland Street to Auburn Avenue.
  • The HOV entrance ramp from Piedmont Avenue to I-75/I-85 will be closed to traffic. Roadside signage will alert drivers of the closures in advance and direct drivers to the detour route.

This $22.5 M project is currently scheduled for completion in late spring 2026.
