Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong Meets with Ambassador of Bangladesh to China Md. Nazmul Islam

On March 2, 2026, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong met with Ambassador of Bangladesh to China Md. Nazmul Islam.

Sun Weidong congratulated Bangladesh on the smooth and successful conclusion of its general elections. He noted that China and Bangladesh are good neighbors, good friends, and good partners. China remains committed to developing friendly relations with Bangladesh based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and consistently pursues the policy of good neighborliness and friendship with all people of Bangladesh. China supports Bangladesh's new government in advancing its domestic political agenda and playing a greater role in international and regional affairs.

This year is the first year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan period. China is committed to promoting high-quality development and implementing high-standard opening up. Amidst the current turbulent and changing international landscape, China's development provides important stability and certainty for the world, and Chinese modernization offers vast development opportunities for all countries, including Bangladesh. China stands ready to work with Bangladesh's new government to continue mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, engage in high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and promote the sustained development of the China-Bangladesh comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, making new contributions to building a community with a shared future for humanity.

Md. Nazmul Islam stated that China is a trusted friend and partner of Bangladesh. He thanked China for its longstanding assistance and support for Bangladesh's development. Bangladesh's new government will steadfastly adhere to the one-China principle, uphold and carry forward the traditional friendship, continue friendly cooperation with China in various fields, and strive for greater progress in bilateral relations.
