GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Situation. This MARADMIN announces the updates to
the uniform requirements for Marine Corps Food Service Specialists.
1.a. The publication of this MARADMIN will cancel MARADMIN 256-18.
2. Mission. Commanders who have Food Service Marines on their Table
of Organization are responsible for providing food service uniforms
items classified as organizational clothing accordingly, the owning
unit Commanders who have Food Service Marines on their Table of
Organization will provide all supply support, budget and provide
standardized organizational clothing and accessories (nametag,
safety boots, and apron) to food service personnel. Standardized
organizational clothing and accessories will be issued, via the
owning unit supply to accomplish assigned duties.
3. Execution. Food Service Specialists (MOS 3381) will be issued,
food service uniforms per the references.
3.a. Food service uniform requirements are:
(1) Three trousers, polyester cotton.
(2) Three chef coats, polyester cotton, with short sleeve.
(3) Two aprons, polyester/cotton.
(4) Two standard government provided nametags.
(5) One pair Boots, Safety (black).
(6) Two Bakers Hat, Black, polyester cotton.
(7) One Outer Jacket, Black, polyester cotton shell (As Required).
3.b. General Service Administration (GSA) part numbers will be
used to order replacement uniforms:

4. Government provided nametags will be worn by all food service
personnel working in the mess hall. The nametag will be black
background with white lettering. The nametag will be centered
between the first and second button on the right side the chef coat.
5. The food service cover will be the standard issued Bakers Hat,
Black, with EGA, or a standard plain white disposable paper
overseas cover provided by the mess hall may be worn.
6. Gold metal rank insignia of grade will be worn 1/8 of an inch
above the nametag and centered. Gold metal rank insignia will be
worn half of an inch from the natural crease and centered from top
to bottom on the left side of the standard plain white disposable
paper overseas cover.
7. The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program belt will be used with work
pants (chef trousers) and trousers will be bloused. A plain black
crew-neck short sleeve undershirt will be worn under the chef coat.
8. Issue and Sustainment Entry level Food Service Marines. The
initial issue of three sets of food service uniforms (chef coat and
trousers), two bakers hat, and one set of accessories (nametag,
safety boots, and apron), to all entry level Food Service Marines
will occur upon arrival at the Basic Food Service Course at Quarter
Master School, Fort Lee, Virginia. The initial issuance of the
uniforms will eliminate the immediate financial burden on the
owning unit commander and the destruction of the service members
service utility uniform.
8.a. Food Service uniforms currently issued to Marines in the
operating forces will be utilized until those uniforms become
unserviceable. When a food service uniform becomes unserviceable, a
one-for-one reissue will be conducted between the individual and the
owning unit supply account.
8.b. Food service uniforms will be issued directly to individuals.
These items will be carried by the Food Service Marine throughout
their duration of service.
8.c. Guidance set forth in the MARADMIN supersedes guidance in
reference (b). Updates to reference (b) will be available upon the
next release of reference (b).
9. Food service uniforms are not authorized as military liberty
attire and are prohibited from being worn outside the mess hall,
with the exception of conducting official military business aboard
the installation where the individual is assigned.
10. Marine Corps Enlisted Aide Program (MCEAP) uniform requirements
are:
(1) Two Belt, leather, black, with silver buckle
(2) Two Necktie, (male) black
(3) Two Cross Tie, (female) black
(4) Two Jacket, chef, cotton, long sleeve, white
(5) Two Jacket, chef, cotton, short sleeve, white
(6) Two Shirt, dress, poly/cotton, short sleeve, black
(7) Two Shirt, dress, poly/cotton, long sleeve, black
(8) Two Shirt, dress, (female) long sleeve, black
(9) Two Shirt, dress (female) short sleeve, black
(10) Three Shirt, polo style, approved emblem, black
(11) Three Trousers/slacks, dress, polyester/cotton, black
(12) Two Vest, polyester, black
(13) Two Tie Tac, USMC EGA, (male), gold
(14) One Jacket, black
(15) One Fleece, black
11. MCEAP uniforms will be issued upon the arrival of Marines to the
National Capital Region (NCR). MCEAP will replace unserviceable
uniforms for Marine Enlisted Aides with assignments to Marine
General Officers outside of the NCR.
12. Administration and Logistics. The Administration Section (S1)
of Marine Corps Detachment Fort Lee, VA will facilitate the
processing of the Page 11 entry required for accountability and
uniform issuance for initial issue. Funding for initial issue of
uniforms will be provided to MARCORDET Fort Lee by MCICOM G4 Food
Service via TECOM.
