Visitors can discover two centuries of local legends during Lifted Voices: Women's History, from 1-4 pm, Saturday, March 21 at the Greensboro History Museum, 130 Summit Ave. Part of the museum's family-friendly "first-person history" series, this Women's History Month event brings the past to life through costumed interpreters.
Guests can hear firsthand accounts of prominent figures who shaped the Gate City and North Carolina, including: Ellen Webb, a dedicated Revolutionary War camp follower; Milley Caper, a resilient widow of the Revolution; and Dolley Madison, the iconic Greensboro-born First Lady. Guided tours depart from the museum lobby every 30 minutes starting at 1 pm. These complimentary tours last approximately 30-45 minutes and provide an immersive look at the "successes and struggles" of women throughout local history.
The afternoon also features a special session for younger historians. At 12 pm, the Little Lions Saturday program invites Pre-K through 3rd graders and their families to explore the lives of Greensboro's Revolutionary women through interactive crafts and snacks.
