MN Bio-Fuels Champions Unleaded 88 In Recently Concluded Retail Promotional Campaign

Burnsville, Oct 31 - The Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association (MN Bio-Fuels) recently concluded a six-month Unleaded 88 (E15) promotional campaign at retail gas stations across Minnesota, including the Twin Cities metro area and - for the first time - Greater Minnesota.

The campaign began April 22 at a Holiday station in New Hope and concluded at another Holiday station in Plymouth on Oct 14. In total, MN Bio-Fuels staff spoke to 401 consumers throughout the campaign, with 266 choosing to fill up with Unleaded 88 (66 percent).

"While Unleaded 88 sales have been increasing across Minnesota, we still find that too many consumers are unaware that gasoline blends with 15 percent ethanol are compatible with their vehicles, more affordable at the pump, and better for Minnesota's environment and economy. That's why we partnered with KS95 and retailers throughout 2025 to hold promotional events where we can interact with consumers when they stop to fill up, answer their questions, break down misconceptions, and even provide a few prizes. We look forward to continuing to educate consumers about the numerous benefits of higher ethanol blends while making Unleaded 88 and E85 more accessible to even more consumers across the North Star State," said Brian Werner, executive director at the MN Bio-Fuels.

According to the Minnesota Department of Commerce, from January to August 2025, a total of 94.42 million gallons of Unleaded 88 was sold in Minnesota at an average price difference of $0.13 cents per gallon compared to 87 octane. This amounted to savings of $12.27 million at the pump for Minnesotans so far this year.

Other stations in the Twin Cities metro that participated in the campaign were located in Blaine, Burnsville, Inver Grove Heights, Shoreview, South St Paul and White Bear Lake. Similar to previous years, MN Bio-Fuels partnered with KS95 FM at some of the retail station promotions.

Additionally, for the first time, MN Bio-Fuels took its Unleaded 88 promotional campaign beyond the metro area to a Minnoco station in Elk River and and a Cenex station in Hutchinson.
