Lisa Fox Selected for National Emerging Leaders Council

December 18, 2025

Dakota State University's Lisa Fox, Director of CyberHealth at DSU, has been selected to join the 2026 Emerging Leaders Council for Civitas Networks for Health, a prestigious national leadership group shaping the future of health information and data exchange.

Civitas is the nation's leading collaborative for health information exchanges, all-payer claims databases, and health data innovation. Each year, Civitas identifies a small cohort of rising professionals whose leadership and expertise are strengthening health data systems across the country. Fox's selection places both DSU and South Dakota at the forefront of national conversations on interoperability, digital health, and community impact.

"Lisa's selection is a tremendous recognition of her talent, her leadership, and the growing impact of DSU's CyberHealth efforts," said Dr. Ashley Podhradsky, Vice President for Research and Economic Development at DSU. "Her voice at the national level strengthens South Dakota's presence in health data innovation and reinforces DSU's commitment to preparing the workforce and advancing research that will shape the future of healthcare technology. We are incredibly proud of her."

As part of the Emerging Leaders Council, Fox will participate in leadership development with national experts, hands-on project work influencing Civitas' governance, such as interoperability strategy, and peer-learning initiatives, planning and presenting at the Civitas Annual Conference, and ongoing collaboration with health-data leaders across the United States. She will serve on the council through 2026.

The council is designed to cultivate the next generation of innovators who will lead transformative change in how health data is used to improve care quality and outcomes.

"I'm incredibly proud of Lisa for being selected for the Civitas Emerging Leaders Council, said Kevin DeWald, Executive Director of South Dakota Health Link. "This is a tremendous honor that reflects her deep expertise and dedication to South Dakota Health Link. I look forward to the significant contributions and insights Lisa will bring back to our organization from this important national forum."

Fox's selection reinforces the momentum of DSU's CyberHealth initiatives, which sit at the intersection of health information, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure - critical domains for the state and nation.
