Mexico and the United States Reaffirm Their Commitment to Educational Cooperation via COMEXUS

The Mexico-U.S. Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange (COMEXUS) has awarded more than 5,000 scholarships in both countries, contributing to the education and training of people in both nations. Its Board of Directors holds equal government representation from four members - on the Mexican side, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education - alongside representatives from academia, the private sector, and civil society.

In this institutional context, with the aim of ensuring the Commission's continued evolution and by mutual agreement with current Executive Director Hazel Blackmore, the Board of Directors unanimously voted to appoint a new Executive Director for COMEXUS. The incoming director is expected to assume the role in the coming weeks.

The Governments of Mexico and the United States extend their appreciation to Hazel Blackmore for her leadership, dedication, and commitment over more than 14 years at the helm of the Commission. Throughout her tenure, she played a decisive role in strengthening and expanding academic exchange programs between the two countries.

Educational cooperation between Mexico and the United States is an instrument for expanding rights and opening doors to learning and professional development. These programs strengthen skills and create pathways for more people to pursue knowledge and gain international experience.
