Suspect Arrested for Document Fraud and Elder Abuse

SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR DOCUMENT FRAUD, ELDER ABUSE, and GRAND THEFT RIVERSIDE, CA

On Thursday, June 18, 2026, the Riverside Police Department was notified that the property title of a 76-year-old Riverside resident's approximately $1 million home had been fraudulently changed to add the name of an unrelated person and was being sold without her knowledge or permission.

Detectives from the Economic Crimes Unit identified the suspect as 46-year-old Jennifer Renee Lewis of Lake Elsinore. Lewis' grandmother had the same name as the victim and passed away approximately two years ago. Detectives determined Lewis used her position as administrator of her grandmother's estate, along with a copy of her grandmother's death certificate, to file a fraudulent affidavit and add herself to the victim's home title.

Lewis then placed the victim's home in escrow and attempted to sell it for $625,000. She also allegedly attempted to access the victim's retirement funds and admitted to stealing mail from the victim's residence.

On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, with assistance from the Riverside Police Department's Post-Release Accountability and Compliance Team (PAC Team), Lewis was located and arrested in Lake Elsinore. She was booked for filing a false document in a government office, elder abuse, and grand theft.

Detectives obtained a $1 million bail increase and a bail hold requiring Lewis to demonstrate a legitimate source of funds if she attempts to post bail.

The Riverside Police Department reminds property owners to keep their contact information current with the Riverside County Recorder's Office so they can be notified of changes to their property title.
