Lanie Wilt, Penn State Altoona student-athlete in women's basketball
LATROBE, Pa. - Penn State Altoona guard Lanie Wilt, of Altoona, was chosen as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Athlete of the Week in women's basketball, the league office announced Feb. 9.
Wilt played a major role for the Lions in their three games last week as the Lions went 3-0 in conference play.
In the home victory against Pitt Bradford, Wilt freshman scored 19 points to go along with six assists, seven steals, and four rebounds. Then, in a road victory against Carlow, Wilt scored 12 points, while also having two assists and two steals. Wilt followed up these performances with a pivotal role in Penn State Altoona's victory over a previously unbeaten La Roche side. In the Saturday afternoon victory, Wilt scored 30 points, provided two assists, and had one steal and four rebounds.
On the week, Wilt averaged 20.3 points per game, 3.3 steals per game, 3.3 assists per game, and 3.0 rebounds per game. In the AMCC, Wilt ranks fifth in points per game with 15.6, fifth in three-point percentage with 32.7, sixth in free throw percentage with 73.9, and fifth in assists with 69.
This is Wilt's first AMCC Athlete of the Week award of her collegiate career.
Penn State Altoona women's basketball is 15-6 overall and 10-2 in the AMCC so far this season. The Lions will play at home in the Arena of the Adler Athletic Complex Feb. 11 when they face local rivals Mount Aloysius. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
