Tim Golden Elected Vice Chair of State Transportation Board of Georgia
ATLANTA, GA - Tim Golden has been elected vice chair of the Georgia State Transportation Board (STB) at its monthly board meeting held on Thursday, August 20. Also elected to the board's executive leadership team were Dennis McEntire as chair and Cathy Williams as secretary. The new positions are effective immediately. Board elections are held annually to ensure all regions of the state are represented at the executive leadership level on the board.
Vice Chair Golden was first elected STB to the board in 2015 and represents Georgia's 8th Congressional District (CD 8), which encompasses Atkinson, Baldwin, Ben Hill, Berrien, Bibb, Bleckley, Brooks, Clinch, Coffee, Colquitt, Cook, Crisp, Dodge, Echols, Houston, Irwin, Jeff Davis, Jones, Lanier, Lowndes, Monroe, Pulaski, Telfair, Tift, Turner, Twiggs, Wilcox, Wilkinson and Worth counties. He spent 10 years as a congressional assistant to U.S. Congressman Charles Hatcher, and in 1990, he was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives where he served for eight years. Mr. Golden was then elected to the Georgia State Senate in 1998 where he served for another 16 years before retiring from the Georgia General Assembly in 2014. His current term will expire in April 2030.
The 14-member State Transportation Board determines policy and governs the Georgia Department of Transportation. Each member is elected by a caucus of Georgia General Assembly members from their specific congressional district. Board members serve staggered, five-year terms.
