Chairman Strong Issues Statement on Devastating Central Texas Flooding, FEMA Response

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Rep. Dale Strong (R-AL), chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emergency Management and Technology, issued the following statement concerning the recent devastating flooding in central Texas:

"I am grateful for the Trump administration's swift surge of FEMA and other federal resources to central Texas in support of the vital coordination efforts between federal, state, and local emergency managers, law enforcement, and other first responders. Amid the devastation, I applaud the efforts of the Alabama Red Cross to provide support for our friends in the Lone Star State. This tragic flooding has endangered countless people and has taken dozens of precious lives--including Sarah Marsh of Mountain Brook, Alabama, who attended Camp Mystic alongside so many other young girls. Laura and I are praying for Sarah's family and for all of the families who are mourning the unthinkable loss of a child. We are also praying for the safety and success of our first responders, including our incredible U.S. Coast Guard, as they continue search-and-rescue efforts to reunite and bring peace to families. With many people potentially still in harm's way, I am in close contact with FEMA to ensure Texans get the information they need to stay safe and access to the relief they need to recover."
