DLA Distribution Europe facility increases operational capability

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. -

Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Europe held a ribbon cutting with local elected officials to recognize the soft-opening of the Logistics Distribution Center Europe Annex in Germersheim, Germany, May 27.

DLA Distribution leadership met with Markus Kropfreiter, mayor of Lingernfeld, Markus Schaile, mayor of Germersheim, and Frank Althaus, BAUID, to showcase the new operational capability.

"The expansion of the Annex will increase DLA Distribution Europe's covered storage capacity, providing future options for our customers and the agency," said Army Lt. Col. Michael Zdrojesky, commander, DLA Distribution Europe. "When the Annex is complete, it will enable us to move more high volume National Item Identification Numbers from our outer warehouses to the Logistics Distribution Center Europe. This will make us more efficient with workload production, which ultimately leads to quicker deliveries to the customer."

The Annex provides more than 35,000 square feet of additional covered storage, which brings DLA Distribution Europe's total coverage storage to more than 250,000 square feet. The addition of the Annex increases bulk covered storage capabilities and will allow receiving divisions to consolidate their operational footprint, increasing efficiencies.

"The consolidation effort will increase productivity for receipts, decrease stow times and provide receiving the much-needed staging space that currently isn't available," Zdrojesky said.

The Annex construction currently stands at 99.5% completed, with Initial Operational Capability anticipated by the end of Aug. 2026.
