R+L Carriers Opens New Alabama Service Center

8/10/2026 - Wilmington, Ohio - Ohio-based transportation company R+L Carriers is pleased to announce the opening of a new service center in Birmingham, Alabama (BIR). This facility will replace the previous BIR location, moving operations 10 miles to the southwest.
Located at 4570 Coalburg Road, the BIR service center boasts 140 dock doors, an eight-bay maintenance shop, four-lane fuel island and 5,000 square feet of office space. It is well-positioned to deliver freight along the Interstate 65 corridor, as well as other surrounding locales, including Bessemer, Hoover, Jasper, Alabaster and Talladega. In addition to Birmingham, R+L Carriers maintains active Alabama service centers in Decatur and Montgomery.
"R+L first extended service to Alabama in the early 1990s," said Dusty Ruthven, R+L Carriers Chief Operating Officer (COO). "Since then, we have expanded LTL operations throughout the state and the entire South. The new Birmingham service center features increased capacity and new infrastructure to better accommodate our growing fleet. It's location in the heart of Alabama also serves as a central transport hub as R+L opens new routes, hauls larger shipments and provides additional services to customers."
