ATLANTA - State Representative Robert Flournoy (D-Hampton) was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as a member of the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Local Government Taxation, Funding, and Budgeting.
"I am grateful to Speaker Burns for appointing me to serve on the Local Government Taxation, Funding, and Budgeting Committee," said Rep. Flournoy. "As we look at how local governments are funded across Georgia, it is important that we take a practical and thoughtful approach to rising costs, tax structures and the pressures communities are facing. I look forward to working with my colleagues to better understand these challenges and explore solutions that help ensure local governments can continue to effectively serve their communities."
The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Local Government Taxation, Funding, and Budgeting will evaluate Georgia's local funding mechanisms to strengthen transparency, ensure fairness for hardworking taxpayers and increase fiscal accountability for local governments.
