Construction Advisory: Union City Boulevard Bike Lanes Project - Asphalt Concrete Overlay

Starting Monday, March 10, the grinding process will begin on the existing asphalt pavement on Union City Boulevard to repair deteriorated pavement and to then perform an asphalt concrete overlay. Barring any weather-related delays, work is expected to be completed by Friday, April 11. During this period, travelers and nearby neighborhoods may experience significant impacts.

The City's contractor, Bay Cities Paving & Grading, Inc., will begin work between Dyer Street to Alvarado Boulevard in the northbound direction. Towards the end of March, work will then transition between Dyer Street to Alameda Creek in the southbound direction.

During construction, traffic delays and reduced travel lanes can be expected. Construction crews, pedestrians, bicyclists, and vehicles will be sharing the road. Please exercise heightened caution at all times and slow down for the safety of all. Allow for additional travel time to and from your destination.

The Union City Boulevard (UCB) Bike Lanes Project will reconstruct the median to accommodate new buffered bike lanes, a shared use pathway, streetlight and traffic signal improvements, upgraded striping and signage, upgraded pavement surface, installing new storm drain inlets, and new landscaping.

The City appreciates everyone's patience and cooperation for any inconveniences caused by the construction activities related to this project.
