Gov. Rhoden Signs Election Integrity Bills into Law

PIERRE, S.D. - Today, Governor Larry Rhoden signed six election integrity bills into law.

"We do a lot of things right in South Dakota, and our election integrity is something to be admired and emulated by other states," said Governor Larry Rhoden. "I am proud to sign these bills into law and further strengthen the security, transparency, and trust in our election system."

The following six election integrity bills were signed into law:

  • SB 30amends the reasons for challenging an individual's eligibility to vote;
  • SB 31permits the use of a confirmation letter to verify a voter's registration;
  • SB 32amends and repeals provisions pertaining to the ballot requirements for certain elections and declares an emergency;
  • SB 101amends provisions pertaining to the duties of presidential electors;
  • SB 114provides for the publication of ballot images and the cast vote record of automatic tabulating equipment; and
  • SB 138revises the time within which a recount for a school board election must be completed.

Governor Rhoden has signed 97 bills into law and vetoed one this legislative session.
