Officials with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction have promoted Tim Gasperson to the position of Director of Operations in the Division of Community Supervision, effective May 4, 2026.
In this new position, Gasperson will direct the operations of more than 2,000 probation/parole officers across the state who supervise more than 84,000 individuals sentenced to probation, parole or post release supervision.
"Tim Gasperson will make an excellent addition to the Community Supervision leadership team," said Leslie Cooley Dismukes, secretary for the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. "His many years in the field and his vast experience make him a great fit for helping to create safer communities and further enhancing officer safety."
"I'm very happy to promote Tim Gasperson to this important leadership position," said Tracy K. Lee, chief deputy secretary of Community Supervision. "His dedicated and committed service to the division make him a perfect fit for this new role."
Gasperson began his correctional career in 2000 as a probation/parole officer in Rockingham County and was promoted to probation/parole officer II in 2002. During that time, he served in Rockingham, Buncombe, and Transylvania counties.
He was promoted to district field specialist for District 29 in 2013, covering Henderson, Transylvania, Polk, Rutherford and McDowell counties.
In 2014, Gasperson was promoted to chief probation/parole officer where he served in Buncombe and Henderson counties. In that position, he supervised officers assigned to Adult Recovery Court, Sobriety Court, Transitional Housing Program and sex offenders.
He has served as the Assistant Division Director in Division 4, and most recently held the position of Division Director in Division 4.
Gasperson is a graduate of Western Carolina University, as well as the NCDAC Correctional Leadership Development Program.
