Burbank, CA (March 23, 2026) - Burbank Public Library invites the community to celebrate National Library Week, April 19-25, 2026, under the theme "Find Your Joy." This annual celebration honors the vital role libraries and library professionals play in transforming lives and strengthening communities.
The festivities begin early with the ribbon-cutting of Burbank's brand-new Bookmobile! Join us at Buena Vista Branch Library on Tuesday, April 14, at 10:45 a.m. for a first look at this exciting mobile library. The Bookmobile will bring books, technology, and library services directly to neighborhoods across the city. Featuring a curated collection for all ages, including bestsellers, children's favorites, and popular DVDs, it will begin visiting parks, schools, senior centers, and community events in May 2026.
As the highlight of National Library Week, the Library welcomes bestselling author Taylor Jenkins Reid for an afternoon of conversation on Saturday, April 25, from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at Buena Vista Branch Library. Reid, one of contemporary fiction's most celebrated voices, will discuss her latest novel, Atmosphere, alongside fan favorites such as The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones & The Six. She will also share insights into seeing her stories adapted for film and television - a fitting conversation for Burbank, the "Media Capital of the World."
"I am so excited for this event at the Burbank Library! I can't wait to talk to readers about Atmosphere and celebrate the great work librarians do to get books into people's hands," said Taylor Jenkins Reid.
National Library Week is a time to recognize the essential contributions of libraries and library workers nationwide. This year's theme, Find Your Joy, encourages everyone to explore what inspires them at the library, whether discovering a new favorite author, attending engaging programs, connecting with neighbors, or finding a welcoming space to learn and create.
"National Library Week is a celebration of connection to stories, to ideas, and to one another," said Mayor Tamala Takahashi. "Hosting an author of Taylor Jenkins Reid's caliber reflects our commitment to bringing extraordinary literary experiences to our community and creating moments that truly spark joy."
Books will be available for purchase starting at 12:30 p.m., with a signing to follow the conversation. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required beginning April 1 at burbanklibrary.org/events. A waitlist will be available once capacity is reached.
