The University of Toledo will screen a new documentary on the U.S. Constitution and host a community discussion with its award-winning filmmaker on Friday, Sept. 19.
David Garrigus is traveling across the country with his latest documentary, "The American Constitution," to foster dialogue and deepen public understanding of the nation's founding charter. Guided by insights from leading scholars, and with a script drawn entirely from the historical record and using only the founders' own words, "The American Constitution" unveils the origin story of the U.S. government.
The free, public screening and discussion at UToledo begins at 7 p.m. in the Savage and Associates Building Complex Room 1200.
The local event is supported by the Ohio 250 Commission, an initiative to help Ohioans commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
Events are also scheduled at Bowling Green State University on Monday, Sept. 15, and Owens Community College on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
UToledo visitor parking permits are available. Please send your name and license plate number to Dr. Renee Heberle, co-director of Law and Social Thought and a professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, at [email protected] for a free permit.
