WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Don Davis (NC-01)voted to pass a bipartisan package of Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations bills covering Commerce-Justice-Science, Interior-Environment, and Energy-Water. The legislation advances six of Congressman Davis' Community Project Funding priorities, delivering $5.36 million for clean water infrastructure and public safety projects across eastern North Carolina.
The three-bill package moves the Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations process forward through regular order and provides full-year funding at current spending levels while avoiding a government shutdown.
"Every eastern North Carolinian deserves clean water and safe streets. When aging water systems break down, and law enforcement officers lack the equipment they need, our communities suffer. By modernizing water infrastructure and investing in public safety, we are giving towns like Garysburg, Sharpsburg, Ahoskie, and Tarboro the foundation to grow and thrive for generations," said Congressman Don Davis.
The eastern North Carolina community projects included in the bills are:
Northampton County - Town of Garysburg Wastewater Infrastructure Rehabilitation: $1.092 million
Summary: Northampton County's Garysburg Wastewater Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project will address aging sewer pump stations and deteriorating sewer lines that have led to residential sewer backflows, environmental contamination concerns, and rising costs. Replacing this system will ensure that underserved residents receive clean, safe, and affordable wastewater service.
Town of Sharpsburg - Sewer Infrastructure Rehabilitation: $1.092 million
Summary: The Town of Sharpsburg's Sewer Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project will aid the town's aging sewer system by repairing sewer mains, rehabilitating sewer lift stations, and providing other sources of inflow and infiltration.
Town of Tarboro - Wastewater Treatment Plant Denitrification Upgrade: $1.092 million
Summary: The Town of Tarboro's Wastewater Treatment Plant Denitrification Upgrade Project will help mitigate nitrogen in the Tar River, improving long-term water quality.
Hertford County - Water System Improvements: $1.092 million
