Mount Community:
Over the past few days, as I have reflected on the extraordinary life of Pope Francis, I have been touched by the profound value he placed on education. He stated that education is "one of the most effective ways of making our world and history more human." Indeed, he believed that education plays a critical role in promoting human value and dignity, personal growth, and cultivating relationships with others. I certainly, share in this fundamental belief that education has a profound and positive impact on individuals and our greater world, and I could not be prouder to continue to pursue my life's vocation here, at the Mount - with each of you.
Indeed, we have had a remarkable Academic Year, here, at the Mount, marked by many achievements.
Of course, the accolades from this year could go on and on. Please know that I am extraordinarily grateful for the talents and gifts that each of you has shared with our campus this year.
At a time when higher education is navigating much uncertainty, I take comfort in the fact that we continue to ground ourselves in the values of our Foundresses, the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati. This is what makes us distinct, and this is what will continue to guide us as we help our students achieve new heights.
As we pray for the Church during this time of transition, let us be inspired by Pope Francis's words, that "education is, above all, a matter of love and responsibility, handed down from one generation to another." Certainly, this has been the work of the Mount for more than 100 years, and I look forward to continuing this legacy as we celebrate our newest graduates on May 3rd.
Congratulations, Seniors - and Go Lions!!
Sincerely,
H. James Williams, Ph.D.
President
