Statement from Congressman Kennedy on Iran Strikes Following Classified Briefing

Senior Trump Administration officials delivered a classified briefing to Members of Congress regarding the attack on Iran. Rep. Tim Kennedy released the following statement:

"Donald Trump campaigned on keeping our nation out of foreign wars. Instead, he has launched one without a defined mission, without a plan, and without Congress. Yesterday's briefing did nothing to convince me otherwise.

"No evidence has been presented that Iran posed an imminent threat to our homeland or our interests abroad. This is a war of choice. President Trump has decided to send our sons and daughters into combat instead of pursuing peace through diplomacy.

"The Constitution entrusts Congress with the power to declare war, a responsibility we do not take lightly because we know who bears the true cost of conflict. We have already paid the highest price a nation can pay. Six service members have given their lives, and their families will carry that loss forever. The President says more U.S. servicemembers will be lost.

"Congress must act now."
